FIBA Rules & Pure Basketball: 40 Minutes of Stop-Clock Intensity

FIBA Rules & Pure Basketball: 40 Minutes of Stop-Clock Intensity

A national title needs a national standard. Every Top 10 game follows the official FIBA Basketball Rules and Regulations.

The format

  • Four 10-minute quarters on a stop-start clock - the clock stops on every whistle.
  • 24-second shot clock, resetting to 14 seconds on an offensive rebound.
  • Five-minute overtime periods until there is a winner.
  • FIBA time-outs: two in the first half, three in the second half.

The officials

Certified referees control every game, supported by a certified table crew: scorer, assistant scorer, timekeeper and shot-clock operator. The official scoresheet is signed off after every game.
